The Nebraska Journalism Trust seeks a Development Associate with a customer service mindset to maintain our customer relationship management (CRM) database and support the donors who power our fast-growing nonprofit news organization. This role is an opportunity to help a young nonprofit develop and maintain relationships and systems for long-term sustainability.

Pay: $20 an hour
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Day-to-day management of the organization’s web-based CRM database, ensuring that all information is updated and available in real-time, including the management of automatically recurring gifts, event registrations, and donor recognition preferences
- Provide exceptional stewardship and customer service on behalf of Nebraska Journalism Trust to donors and subscribers
- Respond to email and phone inquiries about supporting the organization. Initiate email and phone contact with donors to answer questions and resolve problems
- Work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure entered gifts are accurate
- Thank donors in an appropriate and timely manner according to our donor stewardship plan
- Assist with seasonal campaigns and appeals in collaboration with consultants, vendors, and development team
- Work on special projects and other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- An understanding of the role of journalism in a democratic society, and enthusiasm for the organization’s mission: To uncover truth, amplify diverse voices, and enrich life in Nebraska
- Two years of experience in customer service, nonprofit fundraising, marketing, or communications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with attention to accuracy
- Customer-service and solutions-focused mindset when working with colleagues, partners, subscribers and donors
- Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
- Willingness to adhere to the Trust’s ethics policy
- A bachelor’s degree, or progress toward a degree, is preferred but not required
